Art Deco Doorway

I have commissioned builders to build, carpenters to create beautiful furniture and I have first hand knowledge of working with those who work 'with love'.
I chanced up this beautiful Art Deco doorway and just had to share it with you. Just beautiful. This example costs in excess of $7k USD but having such a wonderful work of art as part of your home is a small price to pay if it is within your budget.
Want to know who made this? Here's the link to their site - only because I love this so much! (And no, I am not being paid in any form for this. Tut tut!!)

Beautiful or not?

Doors

This double door set within an adobe framework and leading from the outside into a courtyard is part of my fascination regarding doors. Old doors in particular. The newer lighter weight doors are clearly more practical and cost much less as they are mass produced.
My doors, the doors that I cannot stop gazing at or touching(!), are those which have been at least hand finished by craftspeople who love their work. Oh, those images of people lovingly making these works of art just won't go away!

Are you fascinated by old wooden doors?

Door

This hacienda door is an example of a doorway making a bold statement. Of course, the house itself must be equally as commanding.

Solidly built and the porch acts as a great lead to the door (the side areas resembling a portcullis) and into the great house.

Door

This is my third featured door here and I love this one because it looks used, worn - a practical yet beautiful adornment for an entrance. I look at the double doors and try to guess the age, type of wood. It is grand and beautiful and has stood the test of time with no-one, of late, polishing it, caring for it, yet it still stands proud and strong. It does give a hint of being altered over time with various bits added to try and prolong its life - a bit like having cosmetic surgery - yet it has actually worked!

Do you enjoy doors as much as I do?

Door

The entrance to your home should give a taster of what is within. Even if your home is a small apartment in a tower block or on a large parcel of land, the entrance is important.
Here is an example of a set of double doors leading in from the street pavement yet the effort and workmanship is evident. I almost want to slide my hand across the wood and across all the embellishments.

Your entrance may not be as grand but one could add a potted plant, stain or paint your door, add a new doormat in keeping with your decor. You could consider adding an old door-knocker - it doesn't have to be for any other reason than you like it - totally decorative. How about finger plates -the old antique brass handles not only look great but are very practical. Reclamation yards tend to have marvelous small and large items, although it does mean getting your hands dirty as you pull and dig your way through treasures and tat.
Well worth it!

Door

The primary colours, the not-so-neat painting, the white/grey background - all add to the beauty of this door way. Made me stop and think...mmm!
Simple.
